A black and white photograph of Dronfield Fire Station situated on Sheffield Road at the junction with Snape Hill. Originally it had a horse-drawn fire engine, later replaced by a motorised one. Originally, the Fire Brigade was voluntary and part-time and sponsored by Samuel Lucas who provided the uniforms. In 1939, the fire brigade was transferred to Cemetery Road where it remains to this day. The old Fire Station was demolished before the Second World War when the entrance to Snape Hill Lane was widened.
